GIF (Graphics Interchange Format): GIF files are best for web or on-screen use. A GIF is more effective for illustrations than for colour photos; however, GIF files support colour and various resolutions.
The idea behind designing GIF files was to create the smallest possible image file for uploading and downloading, hence its popularity for web illustrations.
EPS (Vector Encapsulated PostScript) format is supported by most programs and always renders the highest quality. EPSs were designed for printing. They are the top choice for high resolution printing of logos.
